Welcome back to the official newsletter of the Clear River Racing team of 2023!
Another month means another newsletter. This month manufacturing continued in the workshop. And let me tell you the car is coming along step by step and we are getting closer and closer to the release!!
Let’s hear it from the groups!
Aerodynamics
For the aerodynamics group this month’s work has been focused on CNC milling out the final endplates over at Karlstad Makers. We have also worked on preparing and refining our final molds and started lamination of the final components for the aero package.
Chassis
During the month of March the chassis group has been busy finalizing the manufacturing of the two halves of the chassis. The monocoque received its final few layers of carbon fiber and, after a trip to Västervik and Marstrom, got fully cured. On top of this the group has also been hard at work with the welder, first of all welding up the tubes for the steel space frame to finish it up in record time, to then move on to the different containers required for many of our drivetrain components. With the two major halves of the chassis completed we now look to mate them together as one, excited as all the pieces start to come together in the shape of what will be CRR23!
Drivetrain & Electronics
This last month we’ve been pushing our 3D printers to the limit, running them around the clock, producing parts for the vehicle. We’ve begun assembling parts of our tractive system for this year’s vehicle and fully disassembled our battery pack in preparation for it’s new assembly in the TSAC. We’ve also been testing our high voltage circuits, and have made the final touches to their PCB designs. We have worked on the UI layout for the driver display and it’s information presentation as well.
Marketing & Finance
During March, the marketing team has made tremendous progress on the competition documents and continued supporting the team in manufacturing and administrative duties.
PR
During the month of March the PR group hosted our open garage which was a huge hit. A big thank you to all the sponsors and visitors that came to listen about our project! We also attended KAU-Dagarna and got to talk about our project to highschool students from all around värmland. Other than that we have begun preparing marketing material for the upcoming release and we have also begun working on the livery design of the car.
Suspension & Maneuvering
In March we mostly continued with the production on the CNC machines. We have successfully manufactured lots of parts for the car and are getting ready for the assembly. Other than that we have also tuned our dampers for an optimized drive.
Happenings upcoming month
During the upcoming month of April the goal is to begin putting the car together and get ready for testing. We will also host an event called Solcellsbygget where we will teach middle school students how to build solar powered cars. Finally on the 26th of April we will attend Solmässan in Karlstad so if you´re stopping by feel free to come and talk to us!
Don’t forget to follow us on our different social media to keep up and get even more behind the scenes looks of the project! @clearriverracing on everything!
Take care and we will see you again at the end of April!
